Welcome to Friends of Chatham Waterways
FCW is a non-profit organization of families and individuals dedicated to the protection, wise use and enjoyment of the waterways and adjoining lands in Chatham, Massachusetts. We consider our work to be fundamental to the preservation of our town’s Quality of Life.
Among FCW activities are providing public information on important and timely issues in Chatham, such as: wastewater management, population growth and land use management, fisheries, and wildlife habitat and wetlands conservation.
We encourage people to appreciate and enjoy our waterways and shores, because we believe such experiences develop positive preservation and conservation attitudes. FCW members form a flotilla of users and stewards who help protect our waters and educate others about their proper and responsible use.
We recruit and manage volunteer “Water Watchers” who conduct seasonal monitoring of water quality and nutrient sampling of our waterways and volunteers for the annual Coastsweep of debris from Chatham’s beaches. All are invited to join.
